2nd Poison Ivy. DOUBLE COVER: Outer 4.0 Inner 7.0 Label 7.0. A Half Price Books find that I had a coupon for, it came back higher grade than expected and Universal Blue Label to BOOT! Another where the stars align, and I end up with a double cover of the 2nd appearance of IVY! I believe this cover shows the simplicity of Batman and the current humor of the times. I would definitely have bought this off the stands back then. It is interesting to see the Boy Wonder being serious and he is the KID! Batman get off your duff! It also takes days of relaxation, if the criminals indeed ever take a day off in Gotham. Gotham is a city based off New York, I'd assume, seemingly parodied throughout the DC/Marvel universes, and can let others take aim at a city that never sleeps in their writing. Keeping it piggy backed off of the reality, sometimes the fiction seems more relatable.
Complete with a back cover picture of what this cover also reminds me of the most, the Batman movie starring Adam West and Burt Ward as Batman and Robin! Brought over from television, as well, and the TV show version started the same year as this comic!
Grader Notes:
double cover 1st cover 4.0, interior cover 7.0;
large, multiple crease right top of front cover;
moderate bends to cover;
moderate soiling back cover;
moderate spine stress lines to cover;
multiple crease left bottom of back cover;
multiple crease left top of back cover;
multiple crease right bottom of front cover;
very light rusted staples to cover.

Neal Adams Beatles Cover. One of them is Dead? Inspired by the Beatles, and I assume any of these albums are the inspiration: Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, White Album or maybe Abbey Road continued it. Neal Adams uses the headlines to inspire the caped crusader! Seemingly, everyone goes through the "Beatle Phase" of their life. Like or love them, they tend to speak to a "times past", and they sound more melodic, like the harmony in all of us. I transfer that love to this comic, regardless of grade, it is timeless to me. Beatle mania was also of a times past, but it is immortalized within books, mixed media, even those songs that were the 1st to be viewed as girls gone wild. Quite literally the screams heard around the world! Paul! Ringo! John! George! The fearsome foursomes. Lego my Eggo, these Beatles are everywhere!
Complete with a back cover picture of how they are currently marketed, and the popularity shows. I left them in the package, although it is a "K'nex" brand, a good a display as any! A type of Lego or thereabouts toy for those inclined!
Grader Notes:
small, light stain left top of back cover;
very light spine stress lines breaks color;
very light, multiple wear full right of front cover.

A Neal Adams cover. A Detective Comics #31 Cover Swipe, yet also a Classic Cover all its own. A Sweet Homage, Neal Adams continues to draw from the past to revive the present and inspire the future. Considered a Classic, due to its eeriness and deep dark cover, for me! Still a fun book, this copy is perfectly centered, although I did kind of overpay at the time, at $475 shipped off eBay in 2018. I now feel it is redeemable, or more worth it. Sometimes, especially when comics are fun for the cover, you just "have to get a well presenting copy!" I like DC, I like Neal Adams, but not always do I pony up the money. I'm glad to represent some different ages of comics with this one, even in 7.5. I'll keep this to look at for a long time! Some people can draw, and this Neal art is proving that his work can almost stand up against any era. I feel like Pulp Fiction, "That's a bold statement!" It applies here though, although I'm a bit sheepish about it, ha!
Complete with a back cover picture of the first personified Batman movie from 1989, that clenched the world by storm with Tim Burton ads and ephemera galore. "I'm Batman!"

crease left top of back cover;
light crease right center of front cover breaks color;

1st Al Ghul!!! I thought, "What just happened?" When I first saw this cover, it struck deep to the heart! Ghul was an interesting character on the Batman Animated Series and one that I would always hope to be in rerun. Not your typical villain, and also very methodical in planning! Ghul should be revisited again and again, and each time I'll read it! That awful green cover with a hint of yellow, that backdrops the shot! Almost gives you the ill feeling upon seeing it. Robin suffers a fatal blow? These pages get a look at a new theory of the life and death scenario, and who will win out over all? Bang. Pow! Boom!?! See the results of the Al Ghul. Relatives follow him to the grave and beyond. Is it spiritual or something mystic? Batman can't help but to look inside the creaking door to view for himself. Answers are broad at first, and it takes some faith to believe in a final outcome. Can it be done?
Complete with a back cover picture of the prescreen pass before released to streaming of, "Pennyworth!" Batman has a fall back if Robin's trade places in life or death. This shows that the butler Alfred had capabilities too, and he can take his experience to then help Batman cope with the death of his parents!

1st Silver Age Appearance of Two-Face. Classic Villain! Cover by Neal Adams, a classic artist. I have a raw reader as well, takes you back to intricate plots and a detective type story. Two-face makes his return to give Batman a lesson. Bought this through Dave and Adams website. They're becoming my online go to these days! It will take a bit of detective work to not be hoodwinked, Two-Face is stirring. Even during the open seas, Batman has got a fix in the works. Neal Adams gives it the old world feel too. I'm liking completing the Neal Adam's covers, and I had to get some while they were still affordable. Those days will soon pass, and I've lucked into a few. Great stories to go along with the covers too. I had spied it at several cons, but it never seemed within reach and now I'm grateful. There wasn't always high-grade DC available except for moderns. Robin back up story.
Complete with a back cover picture of the example I have of what the Batman TV show used to access the Batman at his house or Batcave! A red phone for emergencies behind glass to keep the connection secure, but it looked to be in a glassware pan such as this and Commissioner Gordon had one the same as Batman and contacted him at a moment's notice. Batman and Robin were on speed dial, and before cell phones or pagers even!

2nd Ra's Al Ghul appearance and an early Talia appearance. Robin back up story. Letter from Dave Sim. An awesome Neal Adams cover bought from Dave and Adams, how fitting! Total cost was $185 shipped. The Ghul's need to be thrown off track as Bruce Wayne, I mean Batman, displays on the cover. Great well presenting copy! The gun is still smoking from the shot to Batman's cowl! These are captivating covers, and stories with interesting writers that will keep this villain surviving. No matter the lengths he has to go to, Al Ghul is a glutton for punishment. Talia has her moral bearing and is unmoved in her loyalty, or so it would seem, the matters of the heart being the most revealing. Batman proving himself over and over, is only making himself more attractive. According to "modern" times with comics, this pairing is a hot item. What will be retconned tomorrow? Hoping to stand the test, the DC comics test!
Complete with a back cover picture of the prescreen pass before the movie was released publicly of "Shotgun Wedding!" A Jennifer Lopez wedding movie, yes another! What does it feel like to hunt "the bats" with a shotgun and fall in love? Talia the gun toting hotshot had a kid named Damien with the Bat, and these are the days through the hourglass of Batmans Lives! Not so much comic related but fits the cover and was shown at the Alamo Drafthouse, which is an awesome dine in theater.

Classic Cover! NEAL ADAMS. Ghul seemingly thinks that he's done Batman in! A "Sucker Punch" or chickens before they hatch? Neal Adams draws on his twist to keep me the reader enthralled. I think this cover portrays the isolation that is reflected in Ghul's desires to kill the Batman! The Batman has friends, unknowingly, within the circle trying to give him the edge. Is it enough to cause the Batman to win the contest of duels? Kind of. Ghul almost seems to be on the hunt for sport, but is there bigger fish to fry? There will be a recompense and hopefully a reward to the one who aids the Batman. Sometimes the double cross isn't always very apparent. Sometimes it takes the risk. Be sure that the Batman somehow, someway, always gets his man. A classic story of keeping your friends close and enemies closer. Do not count your chickens before they hatch either, or you might find yourself at the short end of the stick or scorpion.
Complete with a back cover picture of, "The Sucker Punch/Sweat Pea Statue!" The venom in a scorpion's sting can have you in a mirage within a desert, and clinging to reality, while hoping anyone will come by to be a Good Samaritan! Bible tales, rescue the day on the side of good, vs evil! Bought from Keith's Comics a Local Comic Shop.

Classic Neal Adams! 'Nuff Said. My Uncle bought me the Daisy Rifle (back cover). Danny O'Neal takes the Joker to a maniacal proportion in the writing. What about the art? Well, Adams' Art is what makes the jokester feared and needing to be brought to justice. For me? The twist in the cover means that the Joker is secretly pulling the strings! A Great Read. The Joker gets in his licks, but the Bats is hot on the trail. Batman knows what the Joker is capable of and gets a rude reminder. The psychotic Jokester has made an end to life, the one thing Batman aims to prevent, and does something now to stop another Joker attempted outing! Putting the maniacal intentions aside to see the big picture, only the Batman's sanity keeps his detective and crime fighting skills up to snuff! I can only imagine Bruce Wayne's resume! Then if I could compare it to the Batman? I just would like to do that and ponder what all is, "redacted!?!"
That back cover picture is special on its own, and no I "didn't put my eye out!"

multiple crease right top of back cover;
spine stress lines breaks color;

1st Full Appearance of Killer Croc and Jason Todd. This is a 75 cent Canadian Price Variant. I bought it for $204, shipped, from Duncanville LCS Bookstore. It was not labeled as such, and I had to send it in to get reholdered. In order to get the label corrected, it was a mechanical error of sorts. Killer Croc was a different kind of episode on the Animated Batman Series, it almost made you sympathize with his plight and concerned for his well-being! That is some Grade-A Story Telling!! Shout out to CGC for the assist and recognizing the mistake to have it fixed for reholder! Awesome! There is some discrepancy on all the 1sts with the Croc, with several being an "in the shadows" kind of thing, yet sales aren't affected too much. That said, there aren't a lot of sales visa vie this issue, especially when it comes to Canadian priced variants!
Complete with a little later issue back cover picture, with the Joker who looks as though he just ate some bad Calamari. Issue #450 back cover picture to join in with this issue #357 from the same series. Joker smoking up a storm feeling the glut in his gut cover!

Origin and 1st Black Mask appearance. This character had a part in the movie Harley Quinn Birds of Prey, which I got to see as a prescreen and got a Harley Quinn mallet pin! It makes the cost free as well with these prescreens, when you know how to get passes! I've met friends who dress up for the comic movies, there are often prizes, gift bags, comics, and other frivolity! I went with my brother, and it was a popcorn movie. I got this slab off of the app Mercari, after my 1st purchase fell through and Mercari said sorry by giving me a 10% off coupon, so I got this after discount for $120 shipped. Really even as of 2022 it is the going price for this issue, but still has that 80s grit in art and color. The cameo of the "Black Mask" was short and sweet in the movie though. The comic shows a more thought out and gritty side, with the backdrop of Gotham!
Complete with the prescreen pass before released to theaters, as a back cover picture of, "Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of Harly Quinn)!" A nice memento from the film with the DC roller derby like action, that has also been featured in comics furthering the Harley Quinn storylines. It does kind of fit that style, and the Black Mask overlay was a nice touch in the movie!

Newsstand Newsstand Newsstand ALERT! Modern Newsstand pull up a batarang and get to swinging! Catwoman, Killer Croc, and Poison Ivy Appearance. A now classic Jim Lee cover. It was everywhere at the time, only a few have posted "Newsstands" for sale. Still the quantities, were consumed in mass, yet the demand hasn't brought too many out of collections. The jury is still out. A classic swinging cover, with the almost G.O.A.T. of football on the back cover, Tom Brady, but more importantly, this thing could be pressed it seems from the grader's notes. Loving the beginning to this run of "newsstands" in the issues of #600's, that was well read and collected! This sets up the Jim Lee run that would initiate new and secretive "villains" for the Batman to play with, although in this instance a very crippling way to go about it. There is a lot to the Batman, and somethings never change; although, there are always new obstacles to figure out and he can rise to the occasion.
Complete with back cover picture of Jim Lee's light up canvas. Showing off Jim Lee art! Bought at GameStop of all places, these are the heroes who could keep a "Batman in Check!" The BATMAN, however, always seems to go it alone and mostly in the shadows of his own volition! What is his superpower? "He's Rich!" That is what makes him, and yet the brain power to put that money to work is often overlooked!

small bend center of front cover;

1st Hush. Who seemingly is a pivotal character. There was a bunch of buzz surrounding this character, I just happen to see this at Movie Trading Co. My Mom was B-day shopping for me, and I mentioned it. Happy B-day to me at $20, it's nice when those who know nothing about your hobby can contribute in some way and see your eyes light up. A pretty sexy cover, knowing that Batman eventually asks Catwoman to marry him. It makes you look back at their relationship, and now even with Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy; although, that always seemed to be a thing. I suspect that it had a slight spine roll to receive 9.6 instead of 9.8. It's otherwise pristine! Props to those inclined to help others, it serves well and even if you don't do it to get something in return. There is a reward regardless, so be kind and love each other. That is comic collecting for me!
Complete with a back cover picture of the insides to this comic, showing "Hush" pulling strings and narrating himself with inner thoughts, that speak to how a "villain can analyze heroes or become ambitious in their own endeavors!"

Newsstand Alert! Superman with the grips on Batman. Nice show of strength, but ah in the end who is the morally comfortable hero, is it the end or something more involved!?! Still a collected cover, whose 2nd print made it into TV shows, with this cover as a sketch. This semi classic is by Jim Lee and was a stark portrayal of just what ominous battles the Superman considers a serious conflict, and just how serious or far he is willing to take it. Superman always seems to use caution and patience, even with a mild personality as Clark Kent. We just never have a gauge on how much he holds back. This Kryptonian keeps the guise up well, and we may never see the full potential for this character, and it may be why he's lasted so long! Many times, it is what it is, sometimes a common issue needs a bit of niche or twist of the arm, but this set is a great read and, so far, has come away with some reverence!
Complete with a back cover picture of the classic Jim Lee attribution of Superman, who has a connecting cover of Batman similarly perched for those classic lines! The good guys who watch over their respective cities and beyond.

Batman Hush story line! Jim Lee sketch 2nd print! This cover was and is HOT. It even got a shout out in the TV show The Big Bang Theory, when Stewart the LCS owner held one aside for Will Wheaton to buy. Got to love the real-world application of comics in film. Bizarre nerds show or not. This issue does at least come with some acclaim before it! Got for $50 at Fan Expo Dallas 2021! Those were the days that may soon be back with certain drop in prices, good on the venders to keep turning it all out. With Jim Lee appearing in pencils, it is inked and with color on the 1st print, yet here we can see the detail that goes into it! They did this with a lot of Michael Turner covers too, and while a cool concept, it was very popular around 2016 when I got back into collecting. Comparing artists between the sketch covers could be a cool thing to look into!
Complete with the back cover picture of issue #610 that built the pressure, and while a Newsstand example, I think it is more meant to be read! Bats is getting a feel for the situation! I got it from a $2 bin at a different DVD store.

Andy Kubert cover! 1st Damian Wayne appearance in cameo, with not too much of a cameo seemingly. It really is still a classic that gives the Batman to a world of eye opening. Is this newcomer that he believes is important related to the past? Is it now affecting Batman's future? Only the Batman can decide, so he thinks, the envelope will be pushed in the coming issues, with Damian becoming top dog! With those striking reds, I've found this cover as a raw under-dog, that eventually came back 9.8 as well. Some fun with the bats, perched and flying, got to keep up that agility training. If your name is Andy Kubert, it is tied well with the art and covers, whether it be published covers of any character or sketch covers too. Any Kubert out there has a nice repertoire though! There are many in the comics industry, just FYI. There have been several CGC In-House signings featuring these behemoths, and they were very popular!
Complete with a back cover picture of an Amazon Prescreen Pass to see the movie before released to streaming of, "A Merry Little Batman!" At the Alamo Drafthouse and it's on a weekend, opening one time only, which will create an atmosphere for deserts as it is a dine-in theater. Posted here with this issues 1st appearance because the kid Damian is what the film is about, Batman ridding Gotham of crime in totality due to being a dad! That is how to celebrate the holidays this 2023.
