Set Description:
Next up the #1's or 1st issues that sparked controversial line ups within the 80's! Complete with transforming robots, a military driven kid show, and making the bullpen at Marvel sit up and take notice of what might enlighten the youth of the day. Collaborating and taking big names to task with a future ahead of them that seemed to revolutionize the toy, comic, and now in this day cinema market! Built on the backs of greats, that only kept people working striving to become the next generation of hard workers. New interests were on the minds of those who needed to keep reading comics and anticipating the next issue!
Who stays on top throughout the Copper Age at Marvel? It will be a long road of distribution with greats all making do with timelines and time crunches! Not in too much of a rush to publish, one can hope!
It is an issue number 1 frenzy, but not quite as berserker when it came to the Wolverine series. Instead, this included just about everybody and their cousins. With a hack and slash all the way up to the Care Bears who shot love out of their chest! It was a kid takeover, with Ninja Turtles and the Power Rangers, and on down the line with Christmas specials and toys to overrun living rooms, and with #1 issues! It was the propaganda of fun and reads that filled the Copper Age! To the brim with technology in printing and fast distribution, along with parent's interests being more subtle to provide kids entertainment. We would still ride our bikes and trade with our friends, the same as some olden days, but the bullpen was a little more zealous on pumping things through and out to the newsstands!

Based on the Hasbro toy line, these characters are based in the minds of the creators. Larry Hama, Jim Lee, this series is overrun with talent to get things running. Almost zillions of ideas split up between figures, vehicles, and the endless plastic crack, movies, these comics are treasured as well! As beloved this book is, I'm surprised that I didn't pick it up sooner. My good friend boardie Stormshadow_80 was all over it. I enjoy the nostalgia too, having a cousin who had a FLAGG to play with, and me almost falling on it as a kid because it was on the floor lol Man, he was proud to have that thing. Those were actually gifts for kids, I'm not sure that anything compares to that today in the "collectables" market or in the way of action figures. It is forever young in the minds of collectors, even from 50+ years ago, time goes on for those in service of this country in particular!
Complete with back cover picture of the first appearance of Destro in issue #14, a 2nd print unfortunately, picked up from the dollar bins, but which made for great reading nostalgia!
Grader Notes:
light scuffing to cover;
moderate spine stress lines to cover.

Photo Cover. The Bullpen getting the Horns, with none other than the great Stan Lee. Takes the wind out of the sails to say that many aspired to be a part of Marvel with true greats in succession, one can hope the career sticks to make something of themselves! We've got Simonson (Louise and Walter), Claremont, Byrne, Shooter, Milgrom, Mantlo, Cockrum, Smith and O'Neil gracing the "photo-cover!" Not to forget, Gruenwald, Austin, and Stan Lee with the Hulk and Spider-man! Supporting staff Larry Hama, Jim Owsley, Mike Carlin, Carl Potts, Jim Massara, Danny Fingeroth, Bob DeNatale, Bob Budiansky, Michael Higgins, Ralph Macchio, Tom DeFalco, Eliot R. Brown, and Ann Nocenti, also throughout the series! Someone got in their kicks that day to become photogenic for the smile that would now be sought after in 9.8! Makes this collector happy to see the pyramid back cover that takes the greats in no specific order and turns them into the fun-loving antics of comics, comics, comics! Any comedian can tell you; an artist heart is in the high spirits brought about by the people you work with, otherwise there would be no stories to tell. Make mine Marvel, for this issue and the books these creators among others inspired to churn out at the newsstands and local comic shops!
Complete with a back cover picture worth its salt, and quite literally stands as a fine addition all its own!

Long running series for the time, these "secret wars" didn't last long under hush tones. The inevitable story needed to be told and the Spider-man will come out the better for it! The long-lasting impact will keep the story relevant, precept upon precept like any good morality story. Something for the heroes to learn from and aspire too. I traded in some books for this one at LCS Awesome Comics, although I was really after a slab copy and this did the trick to send in without a press, 9.6! This is a score at less than $100 cost and a treasured addition in near mint plus at 9.6. That whitish cover cannot be that easy to obtain 9.8, unless the copy is exceptional and as usual, I passed on pressing. To each there own, but this presented well and for the cost, was definitely worth the long run with no press to have it back quicker. Not everything is a flip, but having read #8, this is a fun little run that is a ball to read and I'm happy to include it in the collection.
Complete with a back cover picture of a classically portrayed Hulk preparing for a leap in the gallery statue! That Hulk is pretty ripped all over, perhaps he's literally been "Hitting the gym!" He has to get muscles somehow.

Double Cover! Outer Cover 8.5 Inner cover 9.6 Label 9.6. I'm glad that Moon Knight got this ongoing series to flesh out the character a bit more. I sprung for the double cover to make me even happier! I'd be too nervous to resubmit this for grading and a press, even though I know it would benefit. I'm quite satisfied to see the 9.6 and double cover accounted for, as I spent more on this than the going price of a 9.8 at the time. Hoping that buying what I want, that rule would win out. It is for the better that I kept up with that positivity, because I still think it is cool! I see that it has moved up in value, still submitted my newsstand under copy raw. It came back 9.2 and was trade fodder, yet there is the update. Doubling in covers amounts to twice the math for label grade, and it is collectable to some more than other, those you find in the wild can be especially treasured and saved from the trash bin!
Complete with back cover picture of the #1 issue of the next ongoing series, as a raw from 1986. These Moon Knight issues were a battle ground and most of them survived fairly well. Got to get what you can find for the complete story!
Grader Notes:
double cover;
light bend right top of back cover;
light spine stress lines to cover;
light, multiple scuff right bottom of back cover;
tear center of spine.

1st appearance of Vulturions. Another attempt at Venom rebirth, does it ever stop, well find out for yourself! In the end it's the bridge we torched 10 thousand times before, this time we'll blast it all to HELL! ~ Green Day! Woo-Hoo, it's got game. We've got the idea for the weakness in most symbiotes from the bell tower, doesn't ring a bell? Read ASM #300 and see that sound takes away the sting of death in the trail mix that are the symbiotes. Time is on their side as they search the perimeter with the black suit, it doesn't take Spidey long to come up with some old familiar sarcasm. It's the cojones of the "Alien", if only Sigourney Weaver was this lucky, we would take to task and nuke the place. Familiar spirits get down with big town learning about their hometown! That Alien Venom needs to see a dentist, already, as many have seen that smile as a uniqueness. Maybe the Punisher got the number first though with the sound waves, when Venom bares HIS SCARS!
Complete with a back cover picture of this series that went on for a while, from #100 and beyond, and even an annual from my bin diving and green shiny #100 from childhood! The annual being a dollar bin find, it only calls to mind how books can survive in the wild and in nice condition!
Grader Notes:
very light cover tanning;
very light finger bends on cover;
very light spine stress lines to cover.

1st Wolverine as Patch. Good ol' Patch! 1st ongoing in title. Wolverine gets fleshed out in this series that is long running and gives the Wolverine a human side! He goes to Madri poor to act as guardian. He has a a soft spot for the way it's done around there, he dares not let anyone know he is the Wolverine. Given that would give too much attention. He wants to lay low to come and go or operate as he sees fit. He's trying to stop the powers that be from pulling the strings. He doesn't want to pull them himself but bares that in mind when cautiously calling in favors. Every time he almost gets it wrapped up some bigger baddie comes out of the woodwork. Bloodsport was one of the first along with Silver Samurai. Got to be careful Wolverine they may be on to you now! Those ongoing issues whether in a number one issue or in an arc within an established ongoing series, just go to show the pivotal movers and shakers upon what stays around over the years!
Complete with the reader run I still have as the back cover picture! What-What! Got to read about the "Patch" character and Keep the Wolverine Under Wraps.

My Humble 8.0 Frank Miller Limited Series! I say humble because I sent it in and was crossing my fingers for a grade in the 9.'s. I have the complete set as raw copies, but they have raw signatures from Chris Claremont and Len Wein, as they are my "readers." I would have liked nicer slabs, yet VF is sometimes the sweet spot, especially bronze and now copper, eventually. You can't always get what you want, always dream big though, and sometimes you get what you need. Like other issues in this series, there are comfortably priced in grade available, seems a collectable grade and suits just fine. I enjoy the story that Wolverine must restore honor and earn the rights as any other. Given his ability, and or, handicap it makes for a telling story. About the price of love and how it's not always returned, yet you hope beyond hope for it to be. Logan has since taken to keeping up with himself first, his guard is up a lot of the time, and yet, he has on occasion made concessions.
Complete with a back cover picture of the earlier raw copies I mentioned, they are signed by Len Wen and with the first issue signed by Claremont as well! Time honored readers that get a worthy mention, glad to have survived my first con, as well me considering the implications.
Grader Notes:
bend bottom of back cover;
spine stress lines;
stain right bottom of front cover.
