Proteus appearance. It's even closed to 1st or second, but we've all been there when the character finally "graces the cover!" In somewhat a whirlwind, we've got to have the X-men get together to face the issues of the day! As long-time characters the X-men are, they've had some situations that have seemingly been appropriated and solved for good! How does the Phoenix drama fit in? In everyday X-men situations, some underlying stories are always sleeping beneath the surface hoping to again resurface into the enormous plot device. Proteus was seemingly underlying as a, "what do we need to do to make the major issues seem dormant?!" Not all plot devices get the respect they deserve, but it DOES keep the story churning and burning with fervor and nostalgia. Sell the sizzle on these in between plot run issues, as these Claremont issues still can lower the boom! At $84 shipped from a website that boardie "Jesse-Lee" showed me, it is a nice little NM 9.4 addition here in 2022.
Complete with a back cover picture of, "Proteus!" That whimsical appearance isn't going to tame the X-Men, but it will be a good show and a bit over the top! From Marvel Collection comic books that ran wild in the 90's!
