Set Description:
Bronze keepers with that nostalgia twist!
DC with the Bronze transition, backing it up with the eerie and dark, but only on the first setting. Movies have since gotten to the point where the film is so darkly tinted, it is hard to see the action. With greats like Neal Adams and Bernie Wrightson, there are many that got rambunctious, and to the point that venues were selling more comics!
That caused collectables for people of many ages!
Those are the Back Drops to any craze, with publicity and "Now Showing" printed everywhere! It somewhat rings true even today, but with same old and newer properties!
DC is not all homely or with caution, as they can spill the guts just the same as anyone. With hits like the Superman or Batman, it hits home as a nature boy! WHoo! That tried-and-true feature speaks a lot to where we are and have come from to become the instituted culture. DC brandishes it all, but as to not despise humble beginnings, it is also a start and or a relishing of "what" we have become, and are capable or culpable. Times are sometimes needed of refreshing and or a reset, but that isn't usually done within an expected timeframe or multiverse, but with conditions set to move forward and with an appealing to any culture as a mindset.
There isn't just one but a whole and a lot of them, so to speak of those in the industry is then to immerse yourself with, in a way, its own culture and wellbeing with DC as a frontrunner.

Origin and 1st appearance of Man-Bat. 1st Robin and Batgirl team-up story. 400th anniversary issue. Bought for $248 through Dave and Adams due to them not having in stock 2 things that I ordered. They didn't have the 1st and offered credit with $100 extra, so I ordered again, only for them to not have in stock the "next thing!" Good on Dave and Adams owning up to their mishap, I pray they're rewarded. Man-Bat can be moody and done well in all things, if we call to mind the depravity of science mishaps as well. At least the desperateness can make for a good story, all "detective" things considered. A sort of plight that can be remedied, but not without the Batman on the case and the good will of the "BATS" to make some sort of human man charity. Got to love that Neal Adams cover, with them looking like modern "mecha" (mechanical robots that tower over cities, man powered like Power Rangers or VR Troopers) and before that was a thing, to terrorize Gotham City!
Batgirl and Robin were getting their footing as a team, but Batgirl was becoming a leader by standing on her own, while Robin would age slower but again sometimes prove more experienced.
Complete with a back cover picture of the prescreen pass before released to theaters of DC/Vertigo Film, "The Kitchen!" Cooked up in the mixing bowl and based on the comic of the same name, after the original monster gangster-husbands go to jail for three years, barely supported wives take over to show their prowess in being leading "Man-Bat-Beasts!" Hey, they married them to begin with!

1st appearance of the League of Assassins. Batgirl backup story. A nice slab pick-up on a wing and a prayer, or just before it is out of reach. A lowly CGC 4.5 bought off Ebay for $193 shipped. Indeed, a last resort to some, as the League of Assassins is just beyond the wild reach of Batman for Prey on the horizon. Does a body good to get in a workout before dawn! By necessity though, as the bounty is set and something this way comes. Here comes the judge, as the summons has been laid in on a contract, for the Bruce Wayne of yesteryear, the Batman sees it as all too eerie to creep up on him like that! Dawning this "DETECTIVE" cover, the Bat suit is decked out for the Batman realizes the subtlety of the situation. Good and creative writing over at DC, only to dawn again in this collection with another Neal Adams glorious display of art! Currently saving for cons and doing the best I can! As every year we all seek the best that remains of this market for our collections, we take what has been afforded to us and don't look back!
Wristbands carve out stamps for prescreens and moms who went alone on this one I believe!
About her 10th appearance as Batgirl over all in comics with this issue #405, but here is the 1st Cover where she was front and center. Batgirl has always been up and coming with different renditions throughout the years, but none as well-known, as perhaps Yvonne Craig from the Adam West Batman!
Complete with a back cover picture of the prescreen pass before released to theaters of, "John Wick: Chapter 3 Parabellum!" That's how bad they're coming after the Batman in this issue. Film or screen time can't portray the full effectiveness that the Batman has had to shake the trail of those that follow in the shadows. He's resorted to guns very seldom if at all!

1st appearance of Darkseid in cameo. Neal Adams Cover. A black cover difficult in High Grade, makes it that much more appreciated! Darkseid came before Thanos! I had to pay up for a high-grade copy, it was a must for the collection. We have an awesome Neal Adams cover of Superman in defeat. This will be a precursor to the seriousness of what the Darkseid will bring. It is all very scrappy at first and might even be overwhelming in the end. Darkseid came before Thanos in the scheme of things, and that matters because he could be considered way worse. Thanos beat Darkseid to a completed story with onscreen time. That might be to the bewilderment of fans, but what can you do? Darkseid will usher and attempt to complete his quest the same as any demented ruler, who goes around destroying, in this case by farming worlds.
The "pal the reporter" covered this too!
Complete with back cover picture of Adam Hughes rendition of the whole Superman kit and kaboodle, the ages handed down from parent, child, love and hero!

1st Talia Al Ghul Neal Adams! A pivotal storyline. Classic Cover, with a hard to find in high grade black cover. A very eerie looking cover, as was all the stories of Al Ghul and/or Talia. They seemed to be from the "old country" or some such well-versed reference. These older ways give us insights to possible other ways that have been considered as a "day to day". Talia isn't always a bad person. She feels loyalty and keeps her own choices and beliefs to herself. Not always following the direction that is wanted. She still must be stopped sometimes as old habits die hard but living with her choices make her die harder. She hasn't always proven to be the ultimate villain, though she comes from hard stock. It takes a special kind of someone to pierce through the veneer that is developed over time of hard crime. Then sometimes it is the most needed healing touch, the Batman proves able and willing.
By this time and later, the "campy Batman" T.V. show with Adam West were showing exaggerated gender roles, sometimes, but it was all in the wisdom of a "Dark Knight!"
Complete with a back cover picture of Detective Comics #441, which is the first appearance of Detective Harvey Bullock! The actual character Detective that appeared in the 1989 movie of the Batman. They played him off as an obese man, that was a little belligerent in attitude, but mainly he had an unkept appearance.

1st Full Appearance of Darkseid. 1st Appearance of Forever People! Whoa! Jack Kirby claps back with the ultimate in DC Villains! Who is an Ultimate Force? Darkseid and he doesn't care for Superman. Jack Kirby once again invents a world where the biggest and the baddest need an attitude adjustment. Superman will do just fine! Presents very well for the grade, I'm noticing that small stains can drop the grade, yet aesthetically still be pleasing to the eye. Darkseid approves. The Boom Tube can be complicated, yet the Darkseid eyes are the real seekers of destruction. Only human to escape them was the Batman, which speaks to the mind as well agility. Superman can be taken down by the Bats as well, but Superman and the Darkseid are the ultimate match. Then comes Doomsday! "Who or what?" Will succeed first? As the Darkseid wants to usher in to enslave the planet and is often seen as the Doomsday seeker!
Birthday Insides still are a hit Superman Celebration every year around the sun, which gives him strength. Superman fights for his life and likes to celebrate it as well.
Complete with a back cover picture of 1978 Superman Birthday Cards, with mine coming up this 2023, I'm reminded of all marketing. It doesn't get much bigger than the Superman for publicity and all things childishly wholesome!! Haha

1st appearance of the Female Furies (Bernadeth, Lashina, Mad Harriet and Stompa). Some lovely characters for our own Mister Miracle to figure out if friend or foe!?! Indeed, the miracle is that they didn't call him "miracle man", but I suppose that had been used before; although, this is DC! With a way out of a jam and every single time, the Mister Miracle relies on his skills. Indeed, these are some 1sts that I picked up cheap and on the fly with Local Comic Shop Duncanville Bookstore, via their Facebook Live Feed. Sometimes when going for cheap reads and not picking up "in hand", it would appear that I am not able to inspect before buying, but with such an inspiring type "daredevil" like cover, I hope to be justified even in 5.5! Sometimes the heart wants what it does, but be careful, Mister Miracle always walks in when the trap is set and still escapes!?! Justice is served.

Complete with a back cover picture of a prescreen movie pass before it hit theaters! "New god's" that show their Fury, with the "Shazam Fury of the Gods!" Origin of Swamp Thing! 1st appearance of Lt. Matt Cable, and both Alec and Linda Holland. Great new storytelling, Bernie Wrightson does not disappoint with the art, and you can feel the eerie Swamp! With the Swampers and how He Exists. Lucky enough to snag this on eBay, I should have paid up for it a long time ago ha-ha! A well worth it addition to the collection, making it to the forefront with the Swamp Thing. Some like the 1st appearance of Swampy better as a character, although this version was definitely beloved. As a first ongoing, the rest of the series is just as sweet in art and story. Many collectors have made it their mission to complete and read. A lot of interesting forms of story writing ending with a culmination of "love" and hey, Swampy even meets up with the Batman for a frolicking good time, eventually with DC.
Motherly figures can be found down by the creek.
Complete with a back cover picture of the prescreen pass before released publicly of the movie, "Novocaine!" Someone who, similar to the Swamp Thing, has a "condition called CIPA (Congenital Insensitivity to Pain) and does not feel pain", so much so that he has to maintain a liquid diet to avoid biting off his tongue due to not being able to feel it. A condition that enables him to endure physical trauma and end up the good guy hero by withstanding battle damage in order to save the girl!

Origin and 1st appearance of Black Orchid (Susan Linden-Thorne). Doctor 13 backup story. Dawning the night, with cape and cowl, as it is expedient to swiftly assess the situation! Susan, as the Black Orchid, is finding her own as the detective of the town. Needing to find the right answers she decides to incentivize herself, when wanting the job done right where else can you start? Does she then prove that instinct correct? With what imaginative exercises will she find herself capable? Sneaking out the night window and into the open air, she is determined and sticking to her proverbial Moxie having an adventure all her own. Bought from eBay for $153 shipped, it is a novice and rookie offering to the collection. After finding the book raw and in the wild, but not in grade enough to submit to CGC myself, it is down to the reminiscent of the "find" after the thrill of the hunt to now buy already slabbed! Date Stamp on the cover in tow.
Study books show that "Black Orchid" is more accustomed to being used as a background character.
Complete with a back cover picture of the "screen" at the prescreen before released to theaters of, "Killer's Game!" Starring Dave Bautista and Sofia Boutella. A contract killing is on the mind, but it is the hitman himself who got a bad doctor's report and needs the courage to end it. 1st appearance of Captain Marvel, Captain Marvel Jr. and Mary Marvel, since the Golden Age. Origin retold. I saw the 2018-19 movie twice as a prescreen. The 2 separate times I brought 2 different people, and they enjoyed it. I thought it was very family friendly. Shazam! Taking home the hearts of a lot of people, this movie made the grade. I got a couple of free posters from the movie and hung them on the entrance to my comic room. Sometimes it is hard to believe that so many heroes can be in just "one" movie at a time. IMO Shazam made quality happen 1st to put people in the seats for DC in the future. They are a bunch of great characters, and they definitely went all in on the ground swell, and they did do a lot of character building too. It will be worth it for years to come, in comics and more! We always will seek more for the thrill of the hunt.

1st Power Girl. I got this with Ebay bucks! I still paid out of pocket the going price, yet it was like there was no tax :) super happy! I found a raw of this at Half Price Books to read, so it's a nice thing to see the cousin of Superman and read it. For the collection, a 9.4 to round it out with a Near Mint Copy! They team up but are having many disturbances at once, so they seem to tackle the best they can on their own as well. Power Girl Explains that she is capable and willing to do her best, with a splash page near the end in all her cute blonde glory. Keeping this nice Near Mint example, as I've run into many "raws" in the wild, but none as fine as this one. Those that testify of the search are rewarded eventually, by not being weary in well doing. Seek and find, knock it will be open, ask and you will receive! It happens to be the main effort for so many, and for anything else we set out to do!
Power Girl not featured heavily in the DC Cover Girls album, but the insides are heavily displayed within the registry, and the prominence seems fitting as well for a Power Girl!
Complete with a back cover picture of the "screen" at the prescreen before released publicly of "The Flash!" Times were hard and a spectacle but leaning in DC brought us some saving grace with the Flash to race! As in this and the next couple of issues, the Flash is showing to be the fastest man alive, as well the most levelheaded, which we needed in actor's portrayal's as well. The TV show finally settled in on a worthy specimen that showed the "red blur!" What of newcomers like Power Girl? A family growing fast to an all-star squad of five, while shifting gears from 3 on the tree of a cover, to showboating with four on the floor and continuing with lightning like reflexes of an aftershock over drive flash in respective family star power!

1st appearance of Vulcan. Flash vs. Power Girl race. Gerry Conway story. Keith Giffen & Wally Wood art. Ernie Chan cover. Who doesn't love Wally Wood? For curves and nostalgia that is tough to beat. When adventure arises in the JLA or even passed on from the JSA, it is of all sorts when comes things of the "super" variety. Some powers that be and are family related but with relations to work as a team and get in those "stars and stripes" of the pursuit in happiness and the American Way! It is character building the world over. Races between the Flash and all others are thought of as a nuance since conception and attract readers to those particulars. Especially when branded the "fastest man alive", it can take a front page to any collection with those zips and zooms between him and any other DC type player involved, it would be hard but still awesome to collect them ALL!
Flash and Power Girl race, most of the Flash experiences end in seconds or less! It always affected the pulling out of the wallet with racing spectators and the collectable insides, same as the classic line, "30 minutes 'or less', or it is free!?" Bringing a lightning bolt to a foot race for an "inheritance", and as a lottery winner or not because bets were still taken.
Complete with the insides to this issue from an under copy, showing the Flash winning and stating by a "I won by a proverbial mile, I could have won by more..." "Do me a favor flash, don't do me any favors!" ~ Power Girl. Those are spicy lines between the new power houses that prove their salt with flavor, all while the Wildcat is showing some fighter ambitions! We don't always win them all.

Shazam! 1st ISIS, my brother also chipped in for this, for my birthday 2020! I sent it off to be graded, not too shabby, it's a marvel captain! Maybe a love interest or just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Marvels Shazam. There was so much to see in the movie, and the actors and actresses were picked out very well! A lot of them became public figures and did charity work. When Shazam comes again there will be swift Justice. A love interest for good old Shazam would be hard to do, they may have attempted it in a way or in the future. We need the story to grow naturally too, and without being clingy to one way of writing. Being open to new ideas can prolong the inevitable, we've got to be like children and enjoy the time we have! Woo-hoo! It takes all types, that it does, but pivotal moments cause us to look back and appreciate from where we've come.

Complete with a back cover picture of a Mary Bromfield Shazam statue, and also from the prescreen of Black Adam the giveaway tote bag! As innocent kids, we see what the heroes fight for and with what enthusiasm as well courage it takes to speak the "word" to then be as the "World's Mightiest Mortal!" They are mighty as kids anyway, and that is what the movies try to represent, that deep inside already lies the wisdom of Solomon and so on. Faith, Hope, and Love are the ways of discipling and bringing it out to see and testify! Ask for it, seek and find, knocking it will be open, Shazam!

1st appearance and origin of Firestorm. Hot to trot and eventually cold as the storm ice winter in this series. It's all up for grabs, and it will be something if it catches the flames! I tried like the dickens to find this series in the dollar bins, never was that lucky. I had found run fillers, but not in the best shape. I would take a gander at or read some of the issues in the bins at the used bookstore, but what I really wanted was the 1st app and the origin. How this character escaped me for the longest time still eludes me. Innovative for the time, in the way it isn't caused by a radioactive biter or anything, instead it is straight up the source of a "reactor!" Nuclear fission can be delicate, but often the results don't present that way in the magnitude of force. The math is calculated only to provide a certain thesis, as to more controlled effects that can affect the outcome. Glad I'm not responsible for learning it, although someone needs the correct confidence!
Prescreen pass before released publicly to theaters, of the namesake kids would think of when seeing blazing flames infomercials in the 70's through 90's: Playing with Fire! Including wrestler John Cena who played Peacemaker for rival comic company DC! We all had infomercials before cartoons and even during them to not strike the match "for fun", even Smokey the Bear, that now we have the "Firestorm Firemen" heroes that has all the boys and girls clamoring: "You Can't See Me!"

Origin and 1st Appearance of Killer Frost. (Doctor Crystal Frost) It's a Nuclear Winter, with the Kiss of Ice, on the Lips of Fire. Sure to survive the storm! A bit of a mystery origin wrapped into a retaliation book, to be honest. This series has potential. It has statues and other types of ephemera, but they are more of Killer Frost rather than "Firestorm." Do not despise small beginnings, this is the way, and what the good book says. Featured here and there in the Frost, is a chilling and nice addition to the collection and genre. A villain of just emotions of ice, she'll warm up to the idea of being a fleshed-out character. Bought from eBay, which still had to be bought quick, or so I thought. Purchased in 2018, it stayed relatively small in gains. I'm not specking on it, but I found the matchup between polar opposites amusing! Given the age of the book and the science of the plot, spoken for in the issue, it is worth keeping this Near Mint (NM) copy. I'll take it!
Affects men and women alike, but with a front row seat to throw popcorn and or boo and hiss, it can be interactive entertainment. Those of old go before you, cling to the good and the right, as narrow is the way!
Complete with the prescreen pass above before released to theaters of, "The Idea of You!" Similar to this issue as seen in the back cover picture, a single and attractive woman finds herself infatuated when it turns too real for her, due to the spotlight of the other party! Firestorm here has to fend off Crystal who turns into Killer Frost, after there is unrequited love, and upon transformation she then loses some stability in that sense creating motives.
